bet for Charity has launched an online game tournament to raise money to back up contend multiple sclerosis. To participate in the compete for Cure event players alter a $15 tax-deductable donation which allows them to play the online game Lightning Bugs for the chance to win $5,000 in prizes.
The tournament was conceived by Atlanta. Georgia-based game developer Rezilio and the MS Society Georgia Chapter. Unlike other fundraising initiatives more than 80 percent of donations received through Play for Cure go straight to the charity.
"bet For Charity radically changes the way charitable organizations can supplement the internet to increase funds" said Roy Rangel president of the National MS Society's Georgia Chapter in a press release. "Typically by the measure a charity hosts a fundraiser such as a play tournament it costs 85 cents per every dollar donated whereas. Game for Charity and an online game tournament only costs 20 cents per dollar allowing 80 percent of the donation to go directly to the charity."
