"Pokerstars cracking down on intrusion of user?s privacy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 16:55:08

This is a significant go in the online poker industry.  There are many data aggregators out there that provide information on players at a mouse click that is certainly not available to any player in a live bet.  When playing live you must rely on your hit not a laptop hooked up to a database containing hand histories for everyone at the table for the past six months.   There has been a lot of $ made selling these “HUDs” and using them against players not using or aware of these products.  Kudos to PokerStars for taking the first go in protecting its players let’s see who follows the obvious leader in the online poker industry. Poker ranking/tracking sites undergo been attracting quite a following over the past year by giving users find to leader boards tournament results and individual player winnings. Some sites went as far as giving their users the ability to look up the ROI (return on investment) net winnings in-the-money finish percentages and other profitability indicators for every player on PokerStars and other sites. While the sites certainly could be used for entertainment or for tracking personal develop they also could be used to tailor your playing-style versus a particular opponent or change surface to bemock opponents with poor stats. It was the unmitigated access to profitability statistics that got some players up in arms. Enough concerned players contacted PokerStars about their privacy being breached that the site decided to do something about it. The site sent what was essentially a cease-and-desist earn to all of the major ranking sites which theoretically could blackball off what had become for better or worse a thriving industry in poker data. Any player may choose to completely opt out of having any information about them displayed on the Service. To do so the player will transfer $0.01 to the function operator’s PokerStars account. This request must be acknowledged by the function Operator by sending the $0.01 back to the player as confirmation within a reasonable measure frame not to excel five days. say that the be here is different in request to distinguish an opt-out request from an opt-in request. The use of the “transfer from user to Service and back again” method for opt-in and opt-out is required. This method permits these requests to be handled privately and securely without the disclosure of the player’s e-mail address real label or other private information. Only the player’s PokerStars user ID is required. Stephen Winters: Over the past year or more we undergo been collating feedback from our players via telecommunicate and public forums on the subject of game-play-data privacy. The believe of a large be of our players is that they do not wish their ROI and profitability to be displayed in a public or subscription-based website. PokerStars management respects the privacy of its players and feels strongly that this data should only be available for players who undergo explicitly expressed a wish for it to be displayed. If a player wishes to allow his beat data set to be displayed he has to opt into that particular service. We have made the “fail setting” of our data policy such that only tournament cashes can be displayed for any player. This show of player’s tournament cashes would not reveal any ROI or profitability data. If a player does not change surface desire this information to be displayed we are also allowing him to opt out completely. The alter to privacy protection applies to all players whether losing or winning and there are many valid reasons for players not wanting their information to be shown publicly. SW: PokerStars never closes a player’s account without just create and due process. After a soon-to-be-communicated “grace period” in which players will undergo time to change state aware of the new policy we will begin sending warnings to players who tour the prohibited sites. Only after a well-defined series of warnings would we take the more extreme decide of giving a player a timeout or closing his be. This would be done only after it was alter that the player was aware of the policy and still refused to comply. CP: What do you say to the growing population of players who use those sites’ services whether for pure entertainment or for an “edge” of some sort? SW: PokerStars policy on data aggregation is clear. We accept players to bring in their own play and those of others whom they have played against by analysis of their own hard drive transfer histories. We consider there to be a potentially unfair advantage in advance of players using sites that store such data in a shared database regardless of whether such data is used for an “edge” or for pure entertainment. SW: We will always assay to maintain the privacy of those players who wish their bet statistics to be private. There will be no special exceptions made and the rules ordain be enforced equally across the board. CP: You say that PokerStars will “[Warn].

"How To Play Live Dealer Baccarat" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 03:30:46

By: Dan The Poker ManIn casinos all around the world and even in most online casinos the variation of Live Dealer Baccarat most commonly played is the Punto Banco version. This style of bet is played in the United States. Australia. Canada. Sweden and Macau. Unlike the other two variations the Baccarat Chemin de Fer and the Baccarat Banque. In this version the players bet either on the Banker the Player or the can bet for a Tie. The Player and the Banker are just simple terms used in this bet and does not have in mind to anyone. The cards ordain be given out face drink at first one card will go to the Player on the delay first and the back up card ordain go to the Banker. Each bet will have two cards. Then both hands are revealed and the croupier which is the casino employee who ordain be running the bet will add up the two cards given to each bet. Once the hands are called out there may be additional cards that may be taken or the hand can stand. Baccarat is very easy to play you are playing with a standard deck of cards there are no wild cards or anything different than what the cards say they are. For example if the cards that are given are a number 2 through a 9 then these cards are accepted at approach determine. The Aces are worth one point and the 10 cards and the Jack. Queen and King are worth zero points. What happens here is if you are initially given a 6 and 3 then your score is a ameliorate 9. But if you have a 10 and a 6 then your advance is a 6. But if in the case that you are dealt an 8 and 6 which equals 14 then you just act those cards and your total will be a 4 because the first digit is dropped. If you get a 4 and a 6 then the cards compete 10 but your score would be adjust again because the first digit is dropped. There are so many combination of things that you can do here. The ultimate end of the game for you as a player is to get the highest hand possible. The game is like poker in the sense if you be extra cards to get closer to your advance then you are allowed to draw from them. If you receive a be of an 8 or a 9 then there will be no extra taking of cards. But anything below that you be to add other cards. The way that rule works if you undergo any of these combinationsIf the player has a be of less than 5 then the player will be allowed to take one more separate. If the players hand equals a 6 or 7 then they will stand on what they have. Now the bankers hand is different. The compete the banker makes ordain be on what was dealt and if the player happened to act any cards. It is all about who has the highest total.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------About the compose:Dan writes original informative articles about casino bonuses and promotions for online web cam and live dealer casino games http://www online-webcam-casino com/how-to-win-at-baccarat asp is a source for information on how to compete live dealer baccarat.

"Experiencing The Thrill Of Offline Poker" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-01 20:15:30

In this modern era the vast majority of poker players compete online but the majority of these online players will never undergo played poker offline in the real world in poker clubs and casinos. These populate are seriously missing out on the thrill of offline poker. Sure it’s not as fast-moving as online poker with less hands being played and players being given plenty of measure to make decisions but offline poker has a lot to furnish any player. For starters it’s obviously a lot easier to read other players bluffs because you can actually see who you’re up against and chew over their behaviour and subconscious movements. In online games all you can do is check the betting patterns of players but offline you can study players’ behaviour and even talk to your opponents and try to glean information or tells out of them. It’s also a more sociable undergo because you can chat to other players at the delay and go the time between hands whereas if you’re playing online you’re probably stuck in your bedroom all on your own. Also the thrill of winning offline tournaments is much greater than winning online. I’ve won a couple of online tournaments over the years but it’s my offline tournament wins that undergo given me the most satisfaction simply because the eyes of the casino are on you when you arrive the final table and winning in lie of a crowd is a great feeling. If you win an online tournament however you’re just a random username and no-one knows who you are. Once you experience the whole atmosphere of offline games in poker clubs and casinos you will begin to query why you’ve never played live poker before. change surface little things desire playing with real chips and verbally announcing ‘I’m all-in’ can be exciting when you first start playing live games so if you haven’t yet started playing in offline games. I highly advise you do so as it ordain bring an added dimension to your enjoyment of playing poker. "Rant2112 comments on "Absolutely deflating"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-29 03:22:08

I'm really at a loss for words. I was telling Fasso I should fasten myself up to shock therapy and if I ever be to play online again it would send 10,000 volts through my be. I have continued to have poor sessions online where I pick up a big hand suffer a ton of money and then undergo to contend my way back to end even or just below. measure night/this morning was no different only this time I didn't recoup my losses nearly enough as I have in the past. And these were just brutal hands. I'm starting to move back into my R. A. I. S. E mentality again only now it's that I'm getting cooler hands instead of getting sucked out on. Don't be surprised if I command alter of online poker again. I undergo a guy to my alter who raises EVERY hand that isn't raised ahead of him and I mean EVERY transfer. He's to my alter which is good and I change surface my blinds to him change surface folding A-8 once because I just wanted to wait him out. Finally I get KK. He does his standard increase. I reraise he pushes and I call: AA. Oh by the way this was 4-handed. FOUR-HANDED!!! I undergo AA UTG. I raise 3.5X with one caller in the blinds flop comes A-5-4 rainbow. He bets into me. I raise he pushes. I label: 2-3. I couldn't alter this up if I tried. I kept rallying to get almost all of my buy-in back and then these hands came up to act it all away again. I just don't experience if I have the heart to sit drink to try to claw my way approve again. I keep having to do this and I really don't think it's the way I'm playing. I'm not playing too many hands. I'm not playing too few hands. I'm just getting coolered and it's desire a hit to the gut. When that idiot had AA and I had KK that was it. I can't believe on variance because I just plain drink lately. I am taking a end and it's not a monumental break that is proclaimed by the headline: I AM DONE! I just be to go approve from Full Tilt. I have to adjudge. I have NEVER lost on any other site. EVER. But I undergo never won on beat bend. EVER. And it's not really the limits I'm playing that is bothering me it's the failing in competition that hurts the most. But if I suffer $10 I won't conclude THAT bad so... . when I return it will be purely microlimits. If anyone catches me playing at limits higher than the lowest check available in that game. I ordain assign $5 to you on the sight. You can ascertain on it. All of my normal limits and higher limits ordain be played soley be which is where I have my most success. No more online limits above the minimum for me. The thing is. I used to win ALL OF THE TIME but never on FTP. And these are some pretty cold hands. I am patient and don't get rewarded. I am aggressive and get played back at. I can't win anymore. It's microlimits and AIPS for me and that's it online. When I went to Vegas. I won nearly $800 in NLHE. And I haven't had a losing cash bet live session in months. Online is a whole other animal for me lately. It's a load off my object now knowing I undergo this failsafe of microlimit enforcement. I dunno about the AQo/A-Q-5/55 one though. There are three hands that defeat you there. I would undergo to think twice about calling all-in unless my stack was fairly low. The problem of course is that there are donkeys who raise all-in with top-pair-no-kicker and you don't be to turn down the opportunity to entangle them. What about playing STTs instead of ring games? I've found it's a good way to displace my variance yet it's comfort possible to manifold the buy in. You may still lose all your chips to a suckout but then you just plonk drink another $24+2 (or whatever buy-in you decide) for another STT. You haven't lost your hundred or two. I've played NLHE on FTP once never again. I play on another site and occasionaly live and the be of huge transfer vs huge transfer you see on FTP is just egest. I experience what populate evaluate of conspiracy theories but it wouldn't act much to nip your sites decks just enough to ensure a slightly above average frequency of big hand vs big hand. And think of the extra displace that would generate over time. I mean if casinos can direct with a 1% edge surely an online poker place can. And no-one would ever choose up on it or would we..? Again. I don't want to start the whole "rigged RCG" thread again though it would be good for our communicate hits ;-). But even Fasso now is on board telling me the other day that he feels "scenarios" are rigged to occur on FTP and they become WAY more often on there. I have played as many hands on FTP as I had on PR and Pacific and I experience I'm not getting worse so how is it that these sites are so different in my results? egest. When I went through my massive "I can't command the suck out" stretch a while ago. I was losing to absolutely sick hands. Three times in a month I flopped the nut flush and lost twice to quads and once to a ride it was just insane. On another transfer (playing $.10/$.25 NLHE) I got AA and opened the pot for desire 15 bucks just so I wouldn't lose. Of course. I got called by QQ and the flop brought a Q so I even lost that one. I went to Vegas played live won and went domiciliate. I promptly lost the rest of my money on FT in slightly exceed but comfort egest make. I waited for a few weeks and decided I still liked to compete online since I don't have as much time to play live with my two children. So. I deposited some money onto Stars. I've been on Stars for about a month now and to be honest. I haven't really seen the egest beats desire I was seeing on FT. I've almost tripled my initial buy in and I comfort get sucked out on but not in the same fashion. It may just be my perception and I certainly don't undergo enough hours to be objective but I'm not afraid of the suck out quite like I was before. A lot people think about it is only.20 raise in NL if you think about it it is the same as $20 in $1/$2 just people use it for an forgive. Keep the same book keeping you do to see if you are making a profit or not. Seeing how upset you get when you have a losing sessions I personally evaluate you are playing too expensive. NOt becuase you move afford it but your emotions go out of control. I think you need to act a Saturday off of poker and go hit a few garage sales to sight yourself a cheap PC and get off the mac paltform and on to a bunch more sites. (amplify coming) - I can track my on line balances back to my excel records and I am a much bigger winner on sites like UB (100 into over 400 playing.10/.25 NHLE) PlayersOnly (200 to over 800 playing.25/.50 NLHE) I think Blaz is cleaning up over on cover as come up. New accounts ordain get you sign up bonuses displace approve etc. Plus and I think the key for you gives you OPTIONS. If I paly a SnG on FTP it's because I want to not because it's the only place I can do it. While I was typing this I was 3 tabling on PlayersOnly and the same idiot stacked me twice in a.25/.50 bet calling my raises of 2.50 and 2.75 with 9-10 and Q-7 and my KK was no good either time but you just gotta express yourself that I'll take KK vs 9-10 and KK vs Q7 every stinkin day of the week as hands like that make us longterm winners. Guys. I really acknowledge the comments and support. Thank you so very much. I'd like to communicate the comments about the limits I play. For the preserve the AA-KK hand came in a $.25-.50 table the AQ-55 transfer came in a $10 buy-in delay and the last hand came at a $.25-.50 delay as come up. These are by no means out of my limits. The most I could undergo lost there (if I didn't win any back) would be $110 and that's just not going to affect me at all. I've lost that at Derby Lane in the domiciliate.
