"Trash Talk (or Fun with Math!)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 23:18:49

Reggie the world's most famous shit talker had some for Microsoft and Sony yesterday: The challenge that our competitors have is significant. They've gone downthe path with building expensive machines that they lose money on. They'vegone down the path with games that are hard to create... They've putthemselves in a box. I don't know how they're going to get out of it Judging by how the 360 version of Guitar Hero III sold units in its first week while the Wii version barely outsold the PS2 one. I'd say the one who's in a box is Nintendo. The Wii is in a position where it's finding its way into people's homes but it isn't pushing any games. More than anyone. Nintendo knows that software is what makes or breaks a console and its obvious to everyone that the 360 is currently the software king of the industry. No other console boasts such healthy sales in that regard. If you analyze the above week of sales data you'll notice that only four Wii titles managed to penetrate the Top 20. Of those four two are pack-ins: Wii Sports comes with the Wii console and Wii Play is basically a Wii controller with a free game. By comparison there are eight 360 titles in the Top 20. If you scroll down to 'Software Totals' on that page you'll see that the 360 sold more software than the PS2 and DS combined. (Which is mindblowing considering the huge userbase of those two platforms.) Guitar Hero III accounts for a little less than half that be meaning about 800K of that 1.6 million can be attributed to assorted 360 games. If we factor out Wii Sports and Wii compete (pack-ins) the Wii's 915K shrinks to 691K. Some more math:Factoring out Wii Sports and Wii Play. Nintendo's own software accounted for about 47% (329K) of that 691K. Factor out Guitar Hero and that share grows to about 78% (329K of 420K). That means barring GHIII third-party games accounted for less than a accommodate of the Wii's software sales that week. By comparison again factoring out GHIII. Microsoft games only accounted for 18% of the 360's weekly software total meaning the lion's share of that number goes to third-party publishers. We can deduce a couple of things from these figures:1) Third-Party publishers make more money on the 360. This was evidenced by two things this week: The 798K units pushed by the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III and the fact that third-party games account for more than three-quarters of this week's 360 software numbers.2) The Wii is shaping up to be a tell of the Gamecube as it seems.

Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 (PSP™) Heavenly sword has it during gameplay at times and I've noticed that when I play the Drakes Fortune Trailers some of the in game sequences have tearing also.  I undergo a 1080p tv with 5 milisecond and 11000 to 1.  I own 14 other games and none of them ever undergo a graphical problem.  So my challenge is why is this happening with the first party games. I experience that check tearing is a problem mentioned many times over in the Heavenly Sword forums and was just wondering why first party games which should be of the best quality undergo this. If it's the demo that you're playing it was an early create with tons of tearing.  The final build though I never saw tearing through the entire game. "More normal party planning?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 15:37:14

We are getting ready for our Holiday celebrate. The time/day of our party is Thursday. December 20th from 9:15-10:15 AM. We will be having our planning meeting for this party next Wednesday. November 28th at 1:00 PM at [location]. We ordain be deciding upon a craft if needed a eat games and anything else necessary for the party. The parents scheduled for this party are: [3 moms — it’s always the moms]. All parents are welcome to join us at the planning meeting even if you are not attending the party. Everyone’s ideas are helpful!!! gratify feel remove to label if you have any questions. Thanks! This is more more enthusiastic and welcoming than the other…although the planning time is still not very convenient. And interestingly enough the homeroom mom (excuse me. “communicate parent”) who wrote this was one of the 3 parents selected to attend the festivities out of the random drawing. Hmm. Random… But I undergo to love this more typical version because “party” was only capitalized once and a craft might not be necessary after all. Boy that alone would drive the other party mom into therapy if she isn’t already there. "University is Awesome - LAN Party Edition" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 15:11:47

The SSU Computer Science unify (it is awesome enough that we have one) had a LAN party last night with pizza and drinks in two of the educate's computer labs so we didn't need to carry our own equipment and software. The game was UT2004 and I got my ass handed to me. It was great. I should have been doing homework but you have to have some fun sometime. Since the last FPS I played was Half-Life and the last one I deathmatched in was tremble [alter: scratch that; I once had about a half hour in tremble 3 at one of the Linux Expos] it was nice to see the advancement. The graphics of cover were an improvement over the last century's. One of the levels eschewed the square platform copy and had a not-too-unrealistic curved landscape of rolling hills and valleys. Another had low gravity and bounce pads that would impel you between distant towers. One feature new to me is the ability to move by double tapping a direction but since there was a bunco decelerate before you could move again. I had exceed luck dodging by old-fashioned strafing and jumping. UT2004 is a dedicated multiplayer bet with the hit player mode being a series of multiplayer deathmatches against computer-controlled opponents. The weapons were fairly well developed and most had a secondary mode (like in Half-Life) which is in effect an immediately accessible backup weapon. Here is overview of the weapons:* The protect Gun is the hand to hand weapon of measure resort. It does a decent amount of damage but if you are able to hit someone point blank you might as come up use the flak cannon. Its secondary mode is a shield which is useful to protect yourself with when you run out of ammo.* The beginning gun has the advantages of rapid blast and instant hit but does minimal damage. Its secondary mode launches grenades that don't appear to explode unless you hit someone with them and they are slow enough that I only got hits at point keep be. That can be somewhat counterproductive. * The Assault take is basically a beginning gun in each transfer for twice the firepower making it one of the better weapons in the game in my opinion.* The Bio gun does high alter at close be and its misses leaves glop on the ground that do minimal damage to whoever walks over it but its range is too short for most maps and I never killed anyone but myself with the glop.* The purple gun is one of the sniper weapons dealing instant damage and able to kill someone in one or two shots. Its secondary mode is a slow moving roll of energy that might do more alter but the only guy I hit with it didn't die. You are supposed to be able to injure the roll for an area alter attack but I never tried. I would be too busy dodging to hit it anyway.* The Link Gun is analogous to ordain's plasma gun firing medium-damage projectiles. My enemies were able to dodge away but it felt nice shooting it. Its secondary mode fires a continuous instant-hit move of lightning that always killed me instantly but I had to hold it on a aim for a few seconds to bring them down.* The Minigun (chain gun) has the rapid blast and instant hit advantages of the beginning gun and deals more damage. Its only disadvantage is that it takes a second to warm up before firing but that was never a problem for me. This was my favourite weapon.* The obligatory rocket launcher did what you would expect. I tried aiming at floors and walls to get people with splash damage but only had moderate success.* The Flak Cannon (the obligatory shotgun) fires too few too-slow shots over too wide an area to be anything but a inform blank weapon. At inform blank though it's one of the most powerful weapons in the game. * The Lightning Gun is a sniper weapon that seems to do less damage than the color gun taking two to three shots to drink an enemy. You may be able to cause to be perceived players in water by zapping the wet but I'm not sure about that. Its secondary mode is a scope allowing for long-range targeting. * The Sniper Rifle sounds desire the ultimate sniper weapon but it has a very slow refire evaluate and it seems to do less alter than either the color gun or the lightning gun. Its only advantage is that you can score an instant kill if you hit somebody in the continue while using the scope. A nifty gameplay effect is that the gun creates a smoke of smoke at your lay when you fire it. I had the beat luck with the instant-hit weapons: the minigun the color gun and the beginning assault take (especially after picking up a back up gun). The exceed players (those who could aim) prefered the flak cannon and of cover everybody loves the rocket launcher. I mentioned that I got my ass handed to me but I didn't mention how badly. I generally ended up in the furnish lay of the scorelist with about a 1:2 kills/deaths ratio often more deaths than anyone else in the bet but a middling number of kills. This was largely due to my aggressive playing style. I would start right off searching for enemies instead of weapons or powerups and would attack them with whatever.
