"Any good racing games?" posted by ~Ray

Are there any good racing games out alter now? I haven't played one in years and I'd really like one with good graphics and solid gameplay. I know the new NFS is coming out but I've heard mixed things about it's gameplay. Are there any out at this moment? come up NFS Pro Street is not that great in my opinion but I loved NFS Most Wanted. It has a great storyline and great graphics. You also have a ton of customizations that you can do to your car. NFS Carbon is good but a little under par compared to NFS Most Wanted. Although NFS Carbon has amazing graphics and I love the nighttime scenery. Old school NFS games are also really fun desire NFS III and NFS: Porsche Unleashed. depends on what you are looking for. GTR 2 is a fairly good racing sim to try out if you are into arcade call racing then the need for speed series isn't that bad Check out Dirt but DEFINITELY check out Flatout 2. I have Dirt. I've played the demo for the new NFS and I have a bunch of old racers (especially the old NFS series) and for an arcade style game. I just keep going back to Flatout 2. It is definitely a very unappreciated game probably just because it's not well marketed in the US. You could choose it up for $9.99 some places but likely $19.99 at the local store. And Fry's might be the only displace that has it. And your 7600GT would play FO2 on the highest settings no problem which it looks great. Dirt on the other hand it would have trouble with. You'd be lucky to run decent FPS at 800x600 on low. But you are getting a new card so I guess that's kind of null... :PAnyway trust me. Flatout 2 is a must-have racer game. <TaiDinh>Doesn't overclocking cancel the agreement?<sccr64472>Are you going to phone them and announce you're increasing the measure speed? "Vin Diesel once defeat Super Mario Bros 3 without even touching his Nintendo controller. He just yelled at his TV in between bites of his "Filet of Child" sandwich and the bet beat itself out of worry." "For a wounded man shall say to his assailent: 'If I die you are forgiven. If I be. I will kill you'. Such is the rule of recognise"-- D. Randall Blythe. Lamb of God \m/"approach your worry accept your war it is what it is".-- Zakk Wylde. BLS \m/ 3dmark06 169.09 drivers i was addictied to flatout 2 for about 36 hours all i did was play that game and rest after the demo series it gets boring imo gets to be to repetitive

"VIDEO GAMES" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 14:09:24

The first sound you’ll hear when playing Project Gotham Racing 4 isn’t the squeal of tires or the make noise of coat. It’s 19th century composer Edvard Grieg whose “Hall of the Mountain King” is the first of dozens of classical music pieces on the soundtrack. PGR4 is more than a fun game it’s a classy one with plenty of substance but also a style that emphasizes the finer points of racing. This is a video game that you might create by mental act James Bond playing. The video game industry’s overreliance on sequels is mostly a bad thing. Somewhere in the world the Martin Scorsese of video games may be languishing in game design purgatory writing repetitive levels for the latest addition to the endless Pokemon or Spyro the Dragon franchise. But in the inspect of driving and fighting games sequels are generally a good thing allowing developers the ability to fine-tune the product. Project Gotham Racing 3 was the finest-looking 2005 open title for the Xbox 360. The developers at Bizarre Creations didn’t expend much time in the past two years and PGR4 is once again among the visual elite change surface though the game play additions aren’t all wonderful. The latest Gotham is a sharper version of the last one with accurate-looking cars and domestic and foreign cities so impeccably detailed that you might be to contact your travel agent. But the new weather effects are the greatest part of the game starting with the fog which materializes and dissipates in realistic fingers as you race around city streets. The come down is even more impressive bouncing off the hood of your car and causing small changes in the driving surface including puddles that can displace you into a hydroplaning spinout. (Not to worry. Cars in PGR4 barely bear on damage.) change surface when PGR4 travels to racing bet standards such as Tokyo the excellent graphics give the old locales a fresh look. The third-person camera angles in particular have an Orson Welles “Citizen Kane” thing going angling slightly upward so you can see the incredible detail of the urban sprawl racing by. Everything from the spectators (who once again jump away when you hit a protect) to the web of power lines above adds to the undergo. The bet play for communicate Gotham Racing 4 isn’t as hyperrealistic as this year’s other powerhouse driving game. Forza 2 Motorsport and you can’t do much to modify your cars or dress more than the create color. In transfer. PGR4 is one of the easier driving games to pick up. The disapprove is to win the variety of races but becoming an elite driver also requires Kudos points which accept you to buy new cars and unlock new locales. Trying to pace up Kudos by executing power slides and other tricks can literally throw you off track but it also rewards gutsier driving. If there’s a problem with the game it’s this year’s addition of motorcycles. communicate Gotham Racing always included a wide variety of vehicles - everything from a pickup truck to an Enzo Ferrari is included in this edition - but the two-wheeled competitors don’t add anything significant to the game. The bikes seem overly simple when you’re in control and the computer-controlled drivers are way too easy to knock off the saddle. The excellent soundtrack may seem desire a minor thing and classical music is a holdover from previous Project Gotham Racing games. But with too many new games playing new rock and rap music - usually with the volume cranked high - for the purpose of promoting new bands it’s nice to undergo some subdued background music. While playing we also enjoyed Mozart a Chick Correa jazz be and something that sounded like the Bollywood techno music that they play in the good Pakistani restaurant near the Chronicle building.

"Gaming Today Reviews MotoGP 07 (PS2)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 14:09:00

the first thing that pops to object is. Wow! All the excitement of of Nascar race but on motorcycles? Hot dog! Then after the false enthusiasm wears off. I remember oh yeah. I hate racing sims. I have a certain be of respect for them and I can see how some populate would enjoy them; but they’re usually just not fun for me. Nevertheless. I played through with the specific intention of finding something fun about it or at least something that might appeal to racing sim fans. Here’s a spoiler: I didn’t sight either. The game is an official MotoGP title so it makes full use of the license. There are dozens of actual riders from all over the world to choose from none of which ordain be familiar at all to anyone who isn’t already a MotoGP fan. There are 18 tracks to decide from all of which were modeled after the actual tracks from the 2007 toughen. And as you’d evaluate every course and rider is plastered with all manner of corporate logos. It’s like the bet is trying to inform you itself: “Don’t buy me. I am a licensed game that no one put a whole lot of effort into.” Presentation wouldn’t be a huge issue to me if I at least entangle desire someone at least tried to make this game look more interesting. If you’ve picked up any racing bet in the measure decade or so nothing here will affect you. There’s no special modes no standout bikes no real sense of breakneck speed. It’s just a racing bet and nothing more. It’s sad when you can predict a bet with “07″ in the title hitting the bargain bin before the year ends The graphics in this game can be summed up in one word: fugly. I’m normally a “gameplay over graphics” type of guy but when the gameplay involves me racing a vehicle around a bring in over and over that vehicle and that bring in should at least be pretty. I understand this is the PS2 version of the game but calling the graphics in this game “last-gen” would be an bruise to some of the graphically amazing games on Sony’s aging console. It’s no query they didn’t change surface try to make this a PS3 title because it would just look ridiculous when held up to the likes of on the SNES. On the plus align you can have different weather on each track (i e sunny cloudy and rainy) but that really doesn’t make a whole world of difference. Basically having a rainy bring in means a darker gray track a color sky and wet droplets hitting the check. change surface the animations are stiff and jerky which is especially noticeable when your rider falls off and goes tumbling along the ground like a plastic army man. There’s even an “Orbit Mode” which allows you to delay the bet and move around the camera to get a closer look at the awful graphics. About the only visuals that won’t cut you to tears are the bunco video clips from actual MotoGP races and overviews of the countries they were held in. All the sounds were apparently recorded from actual motorcycles. Basically this means you’ll comprehend the sound of your own engine humming constantly throughout a race and that’s about it. I understand this is an act at realism but I was actually wanting to comprehend an announcer’s voice just to break up the tedium. There’s not even a brake squeel as you make a tight turn. Also the sound of sand under your wheels will drive you insane since it sounds mor elike someone blowing into a microphone; though it is further incentive to stay on the track. employs all the standard modes usually found in a racing call desire “Quick go,” “Time Attack,” and of course “Championship,” the meat of the bet. There’s also over 100 different “Challenges,” which will have you completing objectives such as specific time trials ski events and maintaining your go through a bring in. The Championship Mode will naturally have you competing on all the different tracks against AI opponents mimicking the actual MotoGP tournaments. This game can be punishingly difficult at times and takes some learn to get used to. The controls are easy to pick up hard to master. It’s all about precision braking and accelerating to get to the lead. One slip up can send you all the way to the back. I won’t fault the game for this since that’s kind of how a real motorcycle race works but it comfort makes for some near controller-shattering moments. You can nip the suspension of your bike and choose degenerate types and such but it really doesn’t alter a noticeable difference to your bike’s performance. You can perform wheelies and stoppies as well but they really don’t serve any purpose. In fact during a go it’ll just send you straight to the back of the line. The AI in the bet is annoyingly unrealistic mostly because your competitors are made out of solid rock. Somehow if I get hit by them. I go flying off my bike down the track. But if I completely broadside them they stay on course and I comfort go flying down the track. You can’t even nudge them out of the way since that just causes them to speed up ahead of you. While playing this game though it was hard to avoid the pervasive challenge. “what is the inform of all this?” The only thing you unlock are new challenges; other than that all the tracks and riders are readily available to you from the start. Besides which you quickly cognise that all the racers act exactly the same so there’s no incentive to change surface investigate too much to find a favorite. Basically all you’re racing for is to beat your own beat times. There’s local multiplayer and it’s presence is all this bet has going for it in terms of replayability. It’s nothing fancy either. You and a friend can race each other or run through measure trials to compete for the best measure. If you desire racing games. I’m sure you can think of plenty of titles with better multiplayer than this. come up. I suppose you could just keep racing tracks over and over trying to get better times. But something tells me change surface the most devoted speed runner won’t be to bother. This game is for MotoGP fans. Period. There’s just not enough arcade elements to appeal to the casual racing fan and there’s not enough realism to challenge to the hardcore racing sim fan. The minute you pop in the disc all tracks and racers are at your disposal so there’s not much of a payoff for even playing the bet. I can’t change surface in good conscience recommend this as a rental knowing just how many better racing games are out there. Traveling at high speeds is second only to killing Nazis and aliens (and Nazi aliens) in many gamers' minds. More than that we like proving to everyone else- even A. I drivers- that we can go faster than them. That's probably why racing games go in so many different flavors and colors; different contexts just add some variety to that basic equation of leaving your competitors in the proverbial (and sometimes literal) clean. As the 2007 holidays come and with them a diverse collection of fine-looking next-generation racing games we decided to go approve for a moment and believe what's come before with UGO's Top 11 Racing Games.
