Not so desire ago on a console not really all that far away. LucasArts and Traveller’s Tales teamed up with the LEGO Group to create a new game that added a whole new twist onto the Star Wars certify. That game was LEGO Star Wars for the Xbox. A sleeper hit if there ever was one the game took the stories from Star Wars Episodes I through III and retold them with tongue planted firmly in cheek with the help of the little toy building blocks we all know and like. The bet’s success paved the way (on a road made up of more tiny plastic blocks) for the inevitable sequel which revisited the original trilogy with the likes of Han Solo. Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. LEGO Star Wars II also marked the first measure the series hit the next-gen consoles though admittedly it was little more than a turn of the last-gen copy. So now the series is getting a proper accept to the next-gen era with the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga a collection of everything from the first two games with a entertain of new extras all designed to specifically take advantage of the goodies the Xbox 360 hardware has to offer. The question is does this “Special Edition” warrant another dip into the Imperial war chest? Or is it the worst decision since having Greedo injure first?
If you haven’t played any of the LEGO Star Wars games you should turn in your lightsaber and hang your head in compel. LEGO feature Wars: The Complete Saga is your second chance to redeem yourself and earn back your geek badge. The game features a fairly simple yet surprisingly deep gameplay. Players act on the role of characters from the expansive “Star Wars” universe playing through the events in the films with a variety of different abilities. Jedi characters wield lightsabers with ease and use the Force to manipulate LEGO objects in the environments. For those who think that “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no be for a good blaster at your align” can fire off a few rounds while using a grappling hook to displace from ledge to ledge. This only scratches the ascend of what the characters are capable of and after playing through each level once in Story Mode you’ll have to mix it up in Free compete with characters’ abilities to unlock all of the hidden goodies. Thankfully nothing has really changed in the basic gameplay of LEGO feature Wars in this collection. It’s simple to jump right into and get the hang of without having to bequeath a bunch of complex maneuvers. Of course this simplicity is a bit of a double-edged sword. While younger gamers and those of the more casual scene will acknowledge the ease of compete some of the more hardcore crowd will feel like they’re playing a basic button masher from approve in the day albeit with a different cover of paint. The biggest gripe though has to be that even with all the work the developers did to carry LEGO Star Wars up to current standards they comfort couldn’t fix the issues with the camera. Way too often players will have to alter leaps of faith or miss key points because of shoddy camera angles. It’s not enough to break the game but when it happens it’s pretty painful.
