"What makes hockey the superior sport?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-03 20:31:06

We accept it as the truth mainly because it is but what makes hockey the superior sport to the various alternatives out there? I’m from a continent and country where football (the real kind where you impel the ball with your feet - as is logical) is dominant to every other sport. I play myself and undergo played all my life really but somewhere down the lie my interest for it faded as my interest for hockey ignited. Here’s my personal enumerate of why hockey excels over every other major feature - Football. American “football” baseball basketball etc… The speed of hockey is superior to any other major sport - the pace of which things can dress is immense. While there is some go in American football it only occurs every so often. The only go in basketball is when a player runs out of the act to strike a fan. Football is inferior because they lack skates - inevitably making them slower Of course a hockey game can have a lot of breaks - face offs. Rolie The Goalie shaking his disguise off. Avery turtling or whipping blood off the ice - but it is relatively intense when it gets going. The intensity of a baseball bet is equal to the anticipation of a mediocre fart you know its coming you know its dry and you know it won’t last that long. There is generally a LOT of standing around in both the study American-dominated sports. American “football” and baseball - they run a few yards lie drink and then huddle around in their tight pants - waiting for that next fantastically tiring second. In hockey a great and devastating hit is followed up by more play - not an endless break where people stroll around looking at daisies… That’s intense. By this I convey how important each goals is in relation to the frequency of goals scored. In basketball you go “oh - a 3 pointer” or “another 2 pointer” about 30-50 times depending on the score making the feeling of joy for each point scored quite small. Only in the measure minutes do baskets really count for something so it seems. In football you undergo fewer goals than hockey but they convey more for the bet - although when a team is up 3-0 you never ever expect the opposing team to get approve in the bet - and it only happens once in a blue moon. If a team reduces to 1-3 in hockey then there’s suddenly a chance again. In American “football” they can’t ascertain enough said. Hockey has a decent be of goals they all convey something and you can advance several in a very short time-span change surface in a close game because you’re almost always in position to act something dangerous if you have the luck and the skill. In football you can only create offense in so much of the fling - and you rarely stay there too long. Even though hockey has its miserable moments - desire the Bertuzzi incident several spearing hitting from behind and concussion incidents. I still sight it more honest and honorable than the other sports. First of all hockey as a sport and its players be to be the most involved in charity than any of the other sports. They act a big part in their community and be truly involved in local matters (at least most places) On the ice you compared to other sports rarely see lengthy debates with the refs - where players take out every ounce of anger of the officials (desire football) There seems to be just a tad more consider between the players as come up even fighting has its label of conduct. The mentality of toughness is perhaps the best you hardly ever see a player fake an injury or act on some slightly painful problem. Football players… would undergo been laughed out of the building if they played hockey - not because of their skating but because they’d cry when they first fell. 5. The League SystemI undergo the allow of supporting a Championship side in England (second highest division) and they’re mired in trouble. That way I know it ordain inevitably be years until I can evaluate to see any kind of success from them. In hockey change surface though your team is going through crap you know there’s at least a come about to bring around and do well the next season there’s hope at least. I love the drafting system but that only works if one single unify is as strong as in basketball hockey or similar sports. In football if you have the money you own every hit small-franchise team around - and they never stand a come about to build a team because they can’t drop salaries to create over a period of time they’re forced to sell. Overall: The combination of factors easily displace hockey into the greatest sport around. you’ve got it pretty good. Every goal CAN mean a lot and they come at such unpredictable intervals that it always keeps you guessing. There could be eight goals in a period or none… and the challenge is so intense and end to end always with feistiness and toughness mixed together. "Swedish Olympic Team Stops by at Volvo" posted by ~Ray

The 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing on 08/08/08. But the Swedish Olympic Team is already hot on their heels with practicing for the games. Aside from the athletes spending many hours doing strength training for their particular sport they also do team building activities to alter the team’s bond. The Swedish Olympic Team got together measure November 8 and 9 for the Olympic dwell in Beijing and on the list of their team building activities was a trip to in Göteborg. 100 athletes and their coaches trooped to the Volvo production plant to try out various Volvo vehicles in the Volvo Demo Centre. As part of the team building activity the athletes were challenged to reverse a Volvo truck that was filled with gravel. The truck itself was already a big thing to maneuver but what made the contend more exciting was that the athletes had to do so without the help of rear – believe mirrors. Whomever was driving would undergo to rely on his or her team mates to give directions while backing up the rear view mirror – less transport. The idea of the exercise was to build believe amongst the Swedish team mates. The athletes enjoyed the “apply”. Hurdler Susanna Kallur says. “It was easier than I expected. Getting together like this isn’t just great fun it’s also a vital drive for forging a good team spirit among everyone on the Olympic team”. "A Quick and Easy Team Building Game" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 14:08:31

I’ve often wondered why teams automatically compete with one another.  I think it has a lot to do with our cultural conditioning.  From an early age we watch athletes fiercely compete with one another.  Also in school we’re not taught to collaborate.  Rather we are encouraged to be independent of our classmates.  Getting into college/university is also a competitive situation.  Yet with all this training to be competitive in today’s workplace we are asked to collaborate share resources and work as a team.  Maybe this conditioned competitiveness is what make it at times seem so difficult to collaborate.

If you're new here you may want to subscribe to my. Thanks for visiting! I like to have the assort compete games that force them to bring home the bacon as a team and to believe on each other. I think there is a great lesson in leaning on your brother or sister that can be found in these type of activities. The has a page that is filled with these type games and would be a good place for you to bookmark (CTRL + D is a good shortcut to know). It could make a great last-minute life-saver if you get in one of those “I don’t have a lesson and categorise starts in 30 minutes” kind of situations. These type of games are really great for camps and retreats too (convey convey Jared…). And here are some other books that I can recommend from personal experience. analyse them out if you are interested in some more team building games: XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" call=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong>

"End of the Crowder Era" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 16:43:57

When the 2007-2008 toughen begins it will - in a way - attach the start of the Cronin era. Greg Cronin became the Huskies 5th head coach since the 1970’s and although he has been behind the bench for the past two seasons he has just gotten settled in Hockey East with two off-seasons worth of recruiting bringing in force players such as fasten Thiessen and Chad Costello (to label a few). When Cronin was brought on board he started out by coaching the Huskies to a 3-27-4 preserve putting a dent in the schedule. As much as we may undergo wanted to blame our first year instruct for the struggles it was highly unfair to do so because he was coaching new players that hadn’t quite fit into his style of play. With that being said only two players remain from the pre-Cronin years. Those guys. Jimmy Russo and Josh Robertson fill up this year’s senior class and are the last members of Crowder’s recruiting days. Russo though has found a sight in Cronin’s everyday lineup playing in 64 games the past two seasons while Robertson struggled to fit in Cronin’s scheme. After appearing in 21 games in 05-06 and scoring all 10 of his points in the team’s final 12 games. Robertson rode the pine the entire 06-07 toughen. As the lone senior with solid playing time. Russo looks to be Bruce Crowder’s last hurrah…but does he undergo the leadership ability to be an force senior? As a junior he played in a career high 33 games but only scored four goals-10 assists for 14 points. After scoring 4,5,4 goals his first three years as a Husky we can expect him to advance roughly the same be of goals while hopefully putting up manifold digit assist totals again. That amounts to around 15 points on the year which doesn’t be so great. After taking a total of 246 shots on goal these past three years. Russo is left with a.053 scoring percentage. The kid likes to score we can tell but the smart thing for him to do is to turn into a playmaker for Cronin’s young guns that are coming out this year. Without a disbelieve. Russo’s going to have a career year if he keeps setting up Macleod. McNeely. Costello. Kraemer or whoever fits in his line. When Robertson and Russo walk out the door we won’t miss them one bit. Granted they’ve each done their overlap for the red and black the past four years but with Cronin behind the bench we’ve got a lot to be forward to. When Bruce Crowder was fired March of 2007 after nine years on the job. Northeastern turned to Greg Cronin to act over the reins. Cronin in my opinion was the alter man for the job because of his Husky connection and the call of compete he demands from his players. Cronin’s father. Don Cronin was a three-year letter-winner in hockey a 1958 Beanpot All-Tournament selection and was team captain in 1958-59. Gerry Cronin his uncle also a three-year letter-winner at NU was named Most Improved Player in New England in 1960 a 1961 Beanpot All-Tournament selection and was team head in 1960-61. Not to be outdone. Greg’s cousin. Kerry Cronin played on the great NU women’s hockey teams in the mid 1980’s. Cronin’s background definitely strengthened my opinion about him but what really struck me was his vision and his plans to bring hockey back to Huntington Avenue… “I don’t think it’s going to take a while. In all due respect you’ve done your homework you cognise it’s a challenge here,” Cronin said in response. “I thought about that a lot what you have to undergo is a vision a vision that conforms to the design you bring home the bacon with here at NU. I undergo a vision of how I’m going to coach the hockey team and it’s not necessarily the most popular register you’re going to go after. The biggest challenge is finding the right guy who shares the same passion I undergo for Northeastern and Boston and who wants to alter an impact in college hockey.”- Cronin ( Cronin’s bit about the Husky uprising not taking awhile proved to be correct in the short run (improving by 10 wins in his second year) but he can do it for the desire run? There’s no doubt that Northeastern will keep on missing out on the top recruits as desire as BC/bu are around but as long as Cronin goes the distance to find a diamond in the prepare. Huntington Avenue is in good hands. I may be the only one that thinks this but there will be times when a top register likes what he sees in Northeastern and wants to act part in bringing the glory back to Matthews Arena. Those guys (ex: Mike Morris) come by every once in awhile listen to what Cronin has to say…and before you know it we’ve stolen a recruit from our competitors in the city. Not that it really matters to BC/bu as they can just cross the name off their enumerate and clutch another amazing recruit. It’s going to be pretty egest when Northeastern has the ability to draw a top recruit right off the street anytime they want but for.

"Funky Farm" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 15:13:59

Farming has never been this funky!alter money raising animals in this farming bet so you can pay it at the command store. Keep your sheep safe from wild wolves by keeping them in flocks building fences and protecting them with a sheepdog. Fatten up your pigs so they’re worth more money… but check out! Those porkers ordain knock drink anything or anyone in the way of their supper! Retro Records shut its doors long ago but your uncle left you its entire stock of preserve albums. There’s thousands of great records but they are in total disarray! Can you hive away enough albums so that Retro Records can once again change state to the public? Collect classic jazz rock hip hop reggae country classical techno and disco records. It’s OK you can break the ones you don’t like. The screenshots provided above with the introduction to this bet express you enough about the bet with consider to graphics. Not the best I’ve seen but for an arcade bet of this type they are fine. When you first unzip and start the installation affect you’ll be presented with the license agreement; it’s probably the most original license agreement I’ve ever seen lol: The game menu is very simple with only three options; compete. Tutorial and depart. There is no options menu which means no toggles to turn the music and sound effects off no instructions on how to play the game apart from the tutorial and there are no descriptions of the tools and other things you can buy in the shop. With no instructions you’ll probably start with the tutorial button. This is a good idea (ob’) as you will be told via about 15 prompt windows what to do. The bet is easy to learn but don’t think it’s easy to develop through the levels once you get past the first few. There seems to be no specific goal except for attaining a certain be of profit before the end of each level. If you don’t obtain the stated profit then the game ends. Each aim is timed. And you start with a new higher target and a specific be of cash which varies with each aim depending upon what you made in the previous go and what you had deducted for the tools you purchased. You can see these figures at the bottom of the playing area. The tutorials take you through the basic controls. The bet is reasonably simple. You alter money by either shearing your sheep to produce wool or slaughtering them with a cleaver. You can purchase more animals during each level up to the check of your funds. As levels develop different animals become available; (although the only do work animals I’ve seen so far are sheep pigs and Sheep dogs as well as a wolf/fox) You must keep the grassy area relatively remove of muddy areas because if your sheep are on them they no longer produce wool. The longer you leave each sheep grazing the more money the wool ordain be worth. The same goes for the pigs. The longer they eat the swill that you buy in the more money they will be worth either by slaughtering them or rounding them up come the end of the game. (You will be prompted to do this) You start the bet with sheep and then pigs are added in aim 2. Level three sees the introduction of foxes and sheep dogs. Provided you bring home the bacon the specified target by the end of each level you are allowed to develop to the next level. The end of level screen (see below) tells you how much you earned. The target amount is deducted from this. You will also be given tips to help you bring home the bacon your targets so make sure you read these before progressing to the next level. At the end of each level you will be given the opportunity to acquire exceed or new tools see the obtain image below) using the acquire you made in the previous level. Spend this wisely because it becomes progressively harder to attain your targets as the bet progresses. (I lost after level 3 my forgive is that I was stopping to create verbally this review) For example at the end of level 1 you can spend your money on better shears a bigger cleaver and a bigger feed bucket for your pigs. At the end of aim 2 you are also able to buy fox repellent and metal fencing to protect your live have. The improved tools enable them to re-create quicker after use. This process can be speeded up by using the pumps that you will find by the align of the drive box so if your funds are low think carefully about what tools and equipment you are going to purchase. There is a bar indicator to show how much each tool has been regenerated after use. This bar must be full before you can use the tool again. Before the level ends you ordain be prompted to round up your stock and take them to the pens. A rope icon appears in the tool box when it is time and you also get a verbal communicate. You don’t necessarily have to stop what you are doing immediately but the more animals you undergo the longer it takes to go them up. This is compounded because you undergo to round them up in a specific order which is dictated to you via a small window that pops up over the main playing.
